Wow! As a new art student trying to get to grips with the meaning of art.
Roger Dean's work is a pleasantly mind-blowing breath of fresh air.

from Brazil.
Rico Suave says:
Since becoming familiar with Rogers' work in Yes album covers, I have learned
of the limitless spectrum of the human imagination. This is a superb example
of a gifted ability to translate the surreal into something tangent, and not
just a brilliant glimpse of a moment, or perhaps, a dream.
Joseph Morse says:
I'm just looking at this picture for the first time and I have
to confess that I'm utterly amazed. Roger's work never ceases to impress me.
Each time I see work of his that's new to me I'm never disappointed. Thank
you.

ALEJANDRA LLANQUIN - CHILE says:
ESTA PINTURA ME HACE VIAJAR A UNA DIMENSION EXISTENTE EN MI INTERIOR...DONDE

Surjorimba Suroto says:
This beautiful painting is among of my favourite. I have this back
then when I first knew the internet. This painting, along with 4
others, was my first online order. Yes Magazine had Dean's posters
in its catalogue.
From all of my Dean's framed paintings, Freyja's Castle has all
the beauty that fits the walls in my house (btw, my house is not
very big). Just looking at this picture you can imagine watching
the castle from a distance. You can imagine like standing in the
forest on the top of the hill, admiring that castle. Something like
a scene in Gone With The Wind.
The colours are superb. The way Dean placed the dark colours of
the trees really gives the expression about the distance between
you and the castle. The lighting is perfect. The sun seemed perfectly
shines. Not too dark on the place you're standing, while the sun
was starting to set on the castle.
The castle itself has cool colours. It was blue alright, but the
tone was absolutely appropriate. Not too light, but still you can
tell that the castle might be made of pure blue rocks (blue jade?).
This picture fits perfectly on my living room and my guests always
asked where did I get this and admired its beauty.
Michael Falco says:
This painting for me represents a blend of beauty, mystic, cool
refreshing tranquility, lonelyness, high evolvement yet incompletness.
Roger Dean is my favorite artist. Freyja's Castle, expresses much
of my essence visually. When I compose and play music, I often
have visual images in a world akin to Roger's.
Jasper Joppe Geers says:
Well howboutthispaintinghuh? To me this is a true example of
Deans work during the 90's. A dark color on the front, bright
colors for the actual image, and a blend on the background. I
believe this painting was done to celebrate the daughter of Roger,
called Freya... Wat a lucky kid she must be... However, in an
interview with Kai Krause a couple of Years ago in Yes Magazine
he told about Freya playing soccer in the house, while a lot of
well-known Roger Dean Images are just hanging there... Can you
Imagine the Keys Image with a beautiful stamp of a soccer ball?
Hope she never played base-ball... However, I must confess that
this painting is not the most favourite of mine. It is a beautiful
image but the warrior in the middle makes it a strange image to me.
The Architectual elements reminds me of the Asia Alpha Image,
another world-famous painting. On the whole for me this is one
of the better jobs he has done, but not the best...
Katie says:
Wasn't Freyja a Norse Goddess?
I like this picture because it combines a surreal 'ice palace'
in the background, with a familiar tree in the foreground. Roger
Dean has inspired me with my own fantasy artwork for A level, and
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank him. Keep up the good
work!
samantha monteiro says:
a picture for you
Yanuly Sanson says:
Perfect, it has the same "blue quality" as Blue Desert. The warrior
figure and the tiny walkers in the distance pins it down to earth.
Had I the resources I would ask Roger to build me a tower-city
like the that.
Perry Thomson says:
A few years ago I was in an art/poster store and I asked the
clerk if he had any Roger Dean work. He laughed and told me I
was twenty years too late. (Oh well, just another uninformed,
sociopathic store-keeper.) That set me on my mission to collect
as many as my walls would bear. I'm still collecting Rogers' work
and am pleased to see some of it here. Thanks Again!
